The Topping DX9 Discrete is a flagship all-in-one R2R DAC, headphone amplifier, and preamplifier engineered to deliver exceptional fidelity and massive dynamic output. Departing from traditional integrated DAC chips, the DX9 Discrete features Topping's proprietary PSRM (Precision Stream Reconstruction Matrix) architecture combining a 16-element-per-channel 1-bit discrete decoding system with an R2R resistor network. Housed in a curved aluminum chassis with a tempered glass top window, custom Aurora UI dual color displays, and a 6-channel NFCA headphone output stage delivering up to 10,000mW per channel, it offers extraordinary performance for demanding headphone and stereo configurations.
KEY FEATURES & ARCHITECTURAL INNOVATIONS
- Proprietary PSRM + R2R Hybrid DAC: Utilizes 16 discrete PSRM elements per channel operating alongside R2R resistor networks for high-precision 1-bit decoding, achieving an extraordinary 131 dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and dynamic range.
- 6-Channel NFCA Headphone Amplification: Powerful Nested Feedback Composite Amplifier circuit delivers up to 2x 10,000mW @ 16 Ω and 2x 7,080mW @ 32 Ω, driving low-sensitivity planar magnetic headphones with ease.
- Balanced Hybrid Relay Volume Control: High-precision relay-and-resistor volume system combined with digital control ensures perfect channel balance down to ultra-low listening levels.
- Ultra-Low Jitter Clocking & Input Stage: Powered by an XMOS XU-316 USB interface, AK4118 optical receiver, and Altera MAX II CPLD clock management, supporting up to PCM 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512.
- Advanced Hardware PEQ & Crossfeed: Features a onboard 10-band Parametric EQ (configured via Topping Tune software) and convolution-based HRTF headphone crossfeed for enhanced spatial depth.
- Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth 5.1: Supports high-resolution wireless codecs including LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX, AAC, and SBC.
