The Thorens TD 1601 combines classic turntable design with modern convenience, featuring a wooden plinth, two-part aluminum platter, and a stabilized sub-chassis mounted on three conical springs. Connected via a steel thread anchor to eliminate lateral wobble, the TD 1601 adds key functional upgrades over the TD 1600, including an electrical tonearm lift, contactless auto shut-off, and true balanced XLR outputs for high-end phono preamps.
Fitted with the 9-inch TP 160 knife-edge bearing tonearm, the setup supports standard SME bayonet headshells as well as integrated SPU cartridges. Axial length adjustment on the arm tube ensures exact cartridge overhang alignment across a wide variety of phono cartridges.

- Precision Belt-Drive System: Electronically controlled motor with adjustable belt tension driving a 4.2 kg two-part aluminum platter fitted with a thick rubber dampening mat.
