The TEAC VRDS-701 is a flagship integrated CD player and digital transport built around TEAC's legendary VRDS (Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System) mechanism. By clamping the CD onto a turntable of equal diameter and mechanically eliminating rotational vibration, rotational instability, and disc warping, the VRDS mechanism enables ultra-precise optical readout. Designed for reference audio systems, the VRDS-701 features a dual-mono structure with TEAC Delta Sigma discrete DAC processing, dual toroidal power transformers, and an isolated internal power architecture.
In addition to serving as a standalone CD player via balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs, the VRDS-701 functions as a pure digital transport via coaxial and optical S/PDIF outputs. The heavy-duty chassis incorporates floating top plates and TEAC Stressless Foot vibration-dampening feet to minimize internal resonances, delivering a ultra-quiet background (116 dB SNR) and extended frequency reproduction up to 70 kHz.
KEY FEATURES & SYSTEM HIGHLIGHTS
- Proprietary VRDS Clamping Mechanism: Clamps the compact disc onto a high-rigidity turntable to eliminate rotational micro-vibrations, warp distortions, and servo-tracking errors.
- TEAC Delta Sigma Discrete DAC: Custom-designed discrete Delta-Sigma digital-to-analog converter stage supports high-resolution PCM and DSD digital audio decoding.
- Dual Toroidal Power Transformers: Separate, dedicated toroidal power supply sections for the digital and analog stages ensure complete electrical isolation and stable current delivery.
- Dual-Mono Preamplifier & Output Stage: Fully balanced dual-mono circuitry delivers superior channel separation and low cross-talk via balanced XLR and RCA outputs.
- Dedicated CD Transport Mode: Allows bypass of internal DAC and analog stages to deliver a clean digital signal to external DACs via S/PDIF coaxial or optical outputs.
- TEAC Stressless Foot Design: Three-point pin-point isolation feet with floating attachment points prevent microphonic vibration transfer from surfaces.
- Precision Master Clock Architecture: High-precision internal clocking minimizes digital jitter during reading and conversion stages.
