The Tannoy Prestige Canterbury GR (Gold Reference) is a flagship 2-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed for large listening environments. Handcrafted in Scotland, the Canterbury GR features Tannoy’s legendary 15-inch Dual Concentric driver technology housed in a 235-liter high-density birch plywood cabinet finished in hand-selected oiled burr walnut veneer with gold-anodized aluminum trims.
The updated Gold Reference 15" Dual Concentric transducer incorporates trickle-down innovations from Tannoy’s flagship Kingdom Royal project, combining a fiber-enriched paper pulp cone with an Alnico magnet system and a PepperPot WaveGuide. High frequencies are handled by a heat-treated aluminum-magnesium alloy dome compression driver with a Mylar surround. Capable of driving up to 124 dB peak SPL with 96 dB/W sensitivity, the cabinet utilizes a Variable Distributed Port system and Differential Materials Technology (DMT) bracing to allow precise low-frequency room tuning.

- 15" Gold Reference Dual Concentric Driver: Point-source driver layout aligns low- and high-frequency energy on a single axis for time-coherent soundstage reproduction.
- Alnico Magnet System & PepperPot WaveGuide: High-energy Alnico magnet assembly drives symmetrical, controlled high-frequency dispersion via a precision PepperPot WaveGuide.
- Aluminium-Magnesium Compression Driver: Heat-treated 52mm (2") dome compression driver with a Mylar surround for clean high-frequency transient response up to 27 kHz.
- Fiber-Enriched Paper Pulp Cone: Low-frequency woofer cone features a twin-roll impregnated fabric surround for mechanical rigidity and fast transient bass response down to 28 Hz.
- Variable Distributed Port System: Tunable cabinet porting system allows low-frequency output to be adjusted to match specific room acoustics and boundary placements.
- Hard-Wired Crossover with Treble Controls: Features low-loss laminated inductors, thick-film resistors, and front-panel HF shelving (±3 dB) and slope controls (+2 dB to -6 dB/octave).
- 5-Point Binding Post System: Gold-plated 24ct binding posts support bi-wiring/bi-amping alongside a dedicated fifth terminal for chassis grounding to reduce RF interference.
- Handcrafted Oiled Burr Walnut Cabinet: Built with high-density birch plywood and internal DMT bracing, finished in genuine oiled walnut with hand-selected burr walnut inlays.
