The latest iteration of the Michell Engineering Gyro represents a ground-up engineering overhaul of an iconic analogue design. Retaining its legendary silhouette, the new Gyro transitions from traditional cast aluminum to a precision-machined 19 mm aerospace-grade aluminum tooling plate main chassis. Optimized using AI-modeled structural vibration control, the chassis incorporates integrated brass counterweights to balance tonearm assemblies and foam damping inserts around the arm mount to prevent energy reflections from reaching the stylus.
Engineering upgrades extend across the entire mechanical framework: an aluminum baseplate replaces the legacy acrylic Spider frame, resting on large Sorbothane™ isolation feet. The signature suspended sub-chassis is re-tuned to a 3.5 Hz resonant frequency featuring Equilibria™ lateral damping, while the inverted main bearing introduces a double-helix oil-pumping mechanism that doubles lubrication flow. Powered by a freestanding motor pod machined from solid aluminum billets, the fully grounded system features electronic speed control and a sleeker platter profile with an eliminated belt groove.
