The HE1000 has been HiFiMAN's flagship planar magnetic headphone since 2015. The Stealth version keeps the original's open, natural presentation and changes the magnets.
The driver uses a diaphragm of nanometer thickness, which was a first in a headphone. A film that thin responds quickly to the signal, and that's where the detail and low distortion come from. The Stealth magnets are shaped so sound passes through them instead of bouncing off, which cuts down the diffraction that muddies the sound in a conventional planar design. The result is a wide, open soundstage with a smooth, unfatiguing top end, which is why this model suits long listening sessions.
It's also easy to drive. At 32Ω and 93dB sensitivity, it doesn't need a specialist amplifier, so a decent desktop amp or a good portable player will run it properly. The metal parts are CNC milled and hand polished, and the wood-accented cups and leather headband look as good as they feel. At around 458g it's comfortable for hours.
The open-back design is a big part of why it sounds the way it does. With nothing trapping sound behind the drivers, the HE1000 Stealth delivers a wide, airy soundstage and precise imaging, with instruments sitting clearly apart from each other. It's built for relaxed, immersive listening at home.

All equipment listed on this site undergoes a multi-point inspection by our staff. While we use a standardised 1–5 Grading Scale, please note that "pre-owned" implies some degree of previous life. We strive for transparency and use the following terms:
- Visual Inspection: Condition grades are subjective but applied conservatively. We provide high-resolution photography of the actual unit for sale (no stock photos). We encourage buyers to zoom in on all images as they constitute part of the formal product description.
- Functional Testing: Unless labelled Grade 1 , all units have been tested for power, input/output integrity, and basic mechanical operation. Vintage units (20+ years) are tested for "period-appropriate" functionality; unless specified, internal components like capacitors are original.
- "Fair" Exclusions: Items graded 1 (Fair) are sold strictly for parts or repair. These items are ineligible for returns, refunds, or "Item Not as Described" claims regarding their condition.
- Return Window: If a unit arrives in a condition significantly different than its assigned grade (e.g., a Grade 4 unit arrives with a shattered faceplate), you must notify us within 24 hours of delivery.
