The all new LS5/5f delivers an additional 5Hz of bass extension within +/-2dB. In-room, it certainly sounds more like 10hz of additional bass extension. There is noticeably more bass than its stand-mount sibling, though still the maintaining the LS5/5's wonderful bass texture.

According to the BBC's research, the addition of the slots around the woofers, allowed the speakers to perform as a narrower source, creating a wider horizontal dispersion pattern and resultant sweet spot. Improved vertical dispersion also made the speakers easier to position in a room.

The slots also make the speakers easier to position in a room. Because these speakers were originally designed for engineers to monitor the audio signal behind a long mixing console, the speakers have a broad sweet spot. Off-axis listening is perfectly coherent.

These remarkable speakers deliver Midrange Magic in spades, without sacrificing any resolution in the process.

The LS5/5f is 16" taller than the regular LS5/5. It will be available in oak, cherry, rosewood, walnut, or ebony. Partial grills (covering the drivers) will be available in off-white, brown, or black. Fasteners can be requested in black, stainless steel, or gold plated.
