The Børresen X3 is a 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed by Børresen Acoustics to make high-end audio technologies accessible at a lower price point. Leveraging trickle-down engineering from the flagship M, 0, and Z series, the X3 features a heavily braced wood-composite cabinet with carbon fiber reinforcements, finished in premium piano lacquer with tuned rear bass reflex ports.
The driver configuration pairs an ultralight RP89 ribbon planar tweeter with three 4.5-inch Børresen DCC5 drivers—one dedicated to bass/midrange and two handling low frequencies. The dynamic drivers feature a composite membrane constructed from an aramid honeycomb core sandwiched between Spread Tow Carbon Fibre layers, driven by a copper-capped magnetic motor system for lowered inductance and flat impedance performance. Signal separation is managed via a Z-series derived parallel crossover topology for precise phase alignment and timing.
KEY FEATURES
- Spread Tow Carbon & Aramid Honeycomb Membranes: Ultra-stiff, 3-layer composite driver diaphragms engineered for minimal resonance, low distortion, and rapid transient response.
- Copper-Capped Magnetic Motor System: Dual copper-cap motor structure adapted from the Z-Series to reduce inductance, smooth out impedance, and minimize amplifier strain.
- RP89 Planar Ribbon Tweeter: Features an ultra-low moving mass of just 0.01 grams, operating seamlessly from 2.5 kHz upward with an 89 dB efficiency rating for fast, detailed highs.
- 2.5-Way Multi-Driver Configuration: Features 1 x DCC5 bass/midrange driver and 2 x DCC5 dedicated bass drivers for articulate midrange delivery and tight, controlled low-end output.
- Z-Series Derived Parallel Crossover: Mechanically stable crossover network using premium Z-Series components to maintain minimal phase distortion and accurate frequency separation.
- Acoustically Damped Wood Composite Cabinet: Heavy wood-composite cabinet with carbon fiber structural inserts and tuned bass reflex ports to control internal pressure and minimize cabinet coloration.
