The Accustic Arts DRIVE IV is a reference-level top-loading CD transport handmade in Germany. Designed purely for disc playback, the unit incorporates the high-end CD-Pro8 mechanism mounted within a heavy metal die-cast chassis. Built on a sub-chassis decoupling design, the drive mechanism and its 3-beam laser assembly are isolated within a solid aluminium housing to minimise mechanical resonance and vibration during playback.
Power is supplied by two German-made, magnetically shielded toroidal transformers that independently feed the motor control, laser, display, and digital signal processing stages. The top-loading disc bay features an acoustically damped sliding cover, an internal Nextel-coated chamber to eliminate scattered laser light, and a precision magnetic puck for disc clamping. S/PDIF coaxial and TOSLink optical digital outputs are supported by a low-jitter digital output stage with its own dedicated power supply and voltage regulation.
KEY FEATURES & PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGIES
- CD-Pro8 Die-Cast Drive Mechanism: High-end CD-Pro8 transport mechanism featuring a heavy die-cast metal frame, 3-beam laser, and sub-chassis mechanical decoupling inside a dedicated aluminium housing.
- Top-Loading Design & Nextel Light Absorption: Top-loading disc bay fitted with an acoustically damped sliding lid and internal Nextel-coated surfaces to absorb diffused laser light.
- Dual German Toroidal Power Transformers: Two magnetically shielded 25 VA toroidal transformers providing independent power feeds to digital processing, laser, motor, and display control stages.
- Isolated Low-Jitter Digital Output Stage: Dedicated digital output section powered by its own transformer winding and voltage regulation network to ensure jitter-free signal transfer.
- Precision Magnetic Disc Clamping: Custom magnetic puck ensures exact disc alignment, balanced rotation, and consistent tracking stability.
- Heavyweight Aluminium & Brass Enclosure: Constructed from 10mm thick CNC-machined aluminium plates and chrome-plated brass controls, providing a rigid, anti-resonant 22.5 kg foundation.
