Connected via a steel thread anchor to eliminate lateral wobble, the TD 1601 adds key functional upgrades over the TD 1600, including an electrical tonearm lift, contactless auto shut-off, and true balanced XLR outputs for high-end phono preamps.

Fitted with the 9-inch TP 160 knife-edge bearing tonearm, the setup supports standard SME bayonet headshells as well as integrated SPU cartridges. Axial length adjustment on the arm tube ensures exact cartridge overhang alignment across a wide variety of phono cartridges.

KEY FEATURES

Stabilized Sub-Chassis: Bottom-mounted conical spring suspension with a steel pin alignment thread that restricts motion strictly to vertical movement, preventing lateral sway.

Thorens TP 160 Tonearm: Medium-mass 9-inch radial tonearm with knife-edge bearings, SME bayonet connector, and axial length adjustment for precise overhang tuning.

Electrical Cueing & Auto Shut-Off: Features a motorized electrical arm lift and contactless optical auto-stop mechanism at record end.

Balanced & Single-Ended Outputs: Equipped with both balanced XLR outputs and unbalanced RCA jacks for flexible, noise-free amplifier connection.

Precision Belt-Drive System: Electronically controlled motor with adjustable belt tension driving a 4.2 kg two-part aluminum platter fitted with a thick rubber dampening mat.

SPECIFICATIONS

Turntable Type

Manual / Semi-Automatic Sub-Chassis Turntable

Drive Principle

Precision Belt Drive (Adjustable Belt Tension)

Speed Settings

33 1/3 RPM, 45 RPM (Electronically Controlled)

Platter

12" Two-Part Aluminum Platter (Weight: 4.2 kg)

Tonearm Model

Thorens TP 160 (9" Medium-Mass with Knife-Edge Bearings)

Effective Tonearm Mass

14.0 g

Headshell Mount

SME Bayonet Mount (Supports standard headshells & Ortofon SPU)

Convenience Features

Electrical Arm Lift & Contactless Auto Shut-off

Audio Outputs

Balanced (XLR) Pair & Unbalanced (RCA) Pair

Dimensions (W x H x D)

454 x 180 x 369 mm

Weight

11.0 kg

MANUFACTURER INFORMATION

Visit Official Thorens TD 1601 Product Page

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0917/3283/6618/files/thorens-td-1601-turntable-with-tp160-tonearm-20383-p.jpg?v=1773934427
